In a pub…

It was a cold cloudy day turned into night. The day was so long mostly spent on the road. Got into a small town in Franz Josef, New Zealand when it was almost dusk. We only had a couple of hours to kill until all the shops and restaurants call it a day. So we ended up in a pub where they watched Rugby and drank beer with friends. Well, we were hungry so we just watched Rugby and ate good food ;P

What a shame I forgot what the name of this pub was. Or I just wasn’t paying close attention to the outdoor banner because of how cozy the interior felt. Barrels and mirrors up on the wall. Dusky, dimmed and relaxing.

I liked how they put up flags of different countries hanging on top of the bar and the way all the condiment bottles were arranged accordingly. Because I usually picture out a pub being messy and all… but this one was great! Even the restrooms and the hallway to the restrooms had framed magazine pages and athletes’ pictures all over the walls! Which was really cool!

PIZZA + ZOMBIES = ❤ of my life

HAHAHAHA!

Heck yeah, I’ve been labeled weird! Some think I am, but for some it’s okay. For me, it’s really really okay!!

So what do you get when you put pizzas and zombies together? HELL PIZZA!

Ever since I saw their interactive game/video, I was impressed by the way they marketed their brand (link of video below). I wish I was part of their team who have thought about it ;)

While this pizza chain is only available in New Zealand, I kept on looking for it when I was there! They didn’t open up that many branches that’s why it was kind of hard to look for it. Then at last! We found one! It was located along a small alley where no one would normally walk into unless he/she is mysterious (i dont really know haha!) And it was just right down an apartment complex thing.

Small location, big marketing idea, big profit!

Anyway, I find their menu really entertaining! I like how they played with words and constructed something witty out of it. Pizza flavors (first 5 from the menu):

- Mordor (Hell yeah!)

- Mischief

- Mayhem

- Brimstone

- Trouble

Too bad we didn’t eat here because we already ate at a Mexican burrito joint just right across and how could I not notice this?! Either way, I’d rather just take pictures because a slice of pizza would already cost up to NZ$10! :(

But if any of you are planning for a New Zealand trip, better watch out for this one! Then you can say you really went to NZ :)

This branch: Queenstown, New Zealand

What happened that day: Bungy jumping + seeing Hell Pizza at last! ;P

Yeap, that’s me! And it was foggy, like jumping into nothing you can see and something might just grab you from below (okay, too much horror/suspense movies xD)

Even back during World War II, the German soldiers would pack up Cocoa Powder for their post. Mix it with water and drink it, or eat it as it is, I’m not really sure how important cocoa powder was to them. But I’m guessing it’s because chocolate makes everyone happy! :)

I’ve found my favorite drink when I was in New Zealand. No, it’s not L&P. Sorry kiwis..
It’s this Damn Tasty Ginger Beer!! Whether it be Bundaberg or Frank’s, it tastes delicious! Better than cola or rootbeer! Though rootbeer will be my second option! ;)
Someone randomly bring me this, it will definitely make my day! :D

Wagamama at Wellington, New Zealand
It was late and this was the only restaurant open around where we parked our camper van. Plus, my brother said it’s good there because he already tried Wagamama at China.
Yeah, the food was delicious! It’s Japanese cosmopolitan + New Zealand style. Like this one rice bowl I ordered, instead of sukiyaki beef, it was LAMB! How yummy is that?!
LAMB! LAMB! LAMB! baaaa! xD
The chefs were also cute, so yeah, plus points! ;)
If you ever live near a Wagamama restaurant branch, take your time off off work or school and just sit in their relaxing ambience late at night (like 10PM) and eat a late dinner there. Indulge in their savory flavors and just chew, chew and chew.

Apples, apples, APPLES!!

New Zealand has the best-tasting apples I’ve ever eaten! Seriously.

It’s sweeter than the Fiju and the Washington apples! I don’t know why they don’t export them. That would be cool so I can eat them even if I’m not there anymore xD

Originally, we made a stop-over at this small market/farm-like place to check out their raspberries because they had a huge 3D red cherry-looking raspberry in front of their store. And of course to use their toilets since we were driving for countless hours already.

Then we saw their apple farm. When we were about to leave, the owner told us we can pick as many apples as we want!!! That was sooo cool of her! But we only picked 1 each because it’s so embarrassing if we were just gonna hog all their apples haha!

And so here’s a photo of my head and arm picking an apple. My face looked awkward because it was too sunny. Forgive my cropping.

Their apples are so cute. They’re also sweeter than the ones sold in their supermarket.

And I also bought a recipe book, mostly about jams, sweets & vegetables. For the jam recipes, it requires fruits that are not even available here where I live but I still bought it for the “just-in-case” purposes haha xD

So yeah, when you go to New Zealand do NOT forget to visit Otago and look for this little farm store with a huge huge farm behind it ;) It’s just along the highway anyway so I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find it. Plus, they have massive pumpkins on a cart in front of their store so make sure you won’t miss it out! :)
